For example, the Diversity and Inclusion Working Group focuses on creating a more inclusive and diverse community, while the Women’s Safety and Empowerment Group focuses on addressing gender-based violence and discrimination.
These working groups provide a space for individuals who may feel marginalized or excluded from mainstream society to have their voices heard and to be a part of creating change. By empowering these individuals and providing them with a platform to share their experiences and perspectives, Auroville is taking steps towards creating a more just and equitable society.
However, there is still much work to be done in addressing systemic inequalities within Auroville. As with any community, there are complex power dynamics at play that cannot be easily addressed.
