Spiritual Summit

Spiritual Summit

The Spiritual Summit is an annual event held by Auroville and Sri Aurobindo Ashram in major Indian cities, in relation to Spirituality as propounded by Sri Aurobindo. In addition, it also serves as a prominent international conference, with world spiritual leaders attending its related summits and meetings to discuss various problems and global issues, strengthening co-operation, and making decisions and declarations based on spiritual thoughts. The summit will also be attended by world leaders for its success and ability to produce results on a global level.

Auroville aspires to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony, above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realize human unity. Auroville was inaugurated in 1968, and residents from 55 nations call Auroville their home.

On the eve of India’s Independence, in 1947, Sri Aurobindo expressed his thoughts and wishes for the new India, through his five dreams – United India, Asia’s Resurgence, World Union, Spiritual Gift, and Self Perfection.

Now that India is slowly emerging to be leading nation, and wishes to be a vishwaguru, this is the right time for the Indian’s to realise the rightful place on the world stage. The annual shifting event, based on Sri Aurobindo’s dreams will impress upon the countrymen that the true gift from India to the world, can only be spiritual in nature.

Sri Aurobindo, in his fourth dreams says, “Another dream, the spiritual gift of India to the world has already begun. India’s spirituality is entering Europe and America in an ever increasing measure. That movement will grow; amid the disasters of the time more and more eyes are turning towards her with hope and there is even an increasing resort not only to her teachings, but to her psychic and spiritual practice.”

The Spiritual Summit will also look into the evolutionary prospect of humanity through the lens of Sri Aurobindo’s 5th Dream: Self Perfection. “The final dream was a step in evolution which would raise man to a higher and larger consciousness and begin the solution of the problems which have perplexed and vexed him since he first began to think and to dream of individual perfection and a perfect society.

This is still a personal hope and an idea, an ideal which has begun to take hold both in India and in the West on forward-looking minds. The difficulties in the way are more formidable than in any other field of endeavour, but difficulties were made to be overcome and if the Supreme Will is there, they will be overcome. Here too, if this evolution is to take place, since it must proceed through a growth of the spirit and the inner consciousness, the initiative can come from India and, although the scope must be universal, the central movement may be hers.”

Life Divine

The Life Divine is a philosophical work by Sri Aurobindo, a renowned Indian sage and spiritual leader. It was published in 1939 and is considered one of his major works.

The book presents Sri Aurobindo’s vision of the evolution of consciousness and the ultimate goal of human life. He argues that the universe is not a meaningless or chaotic place, but a purposeful and evolving creation, and that human beings have a role to play in this cosmic evolution.

Sri Aurobindo proposes that the ultimate goal of human life is to realize the divine consciousness within oneself and to manifest it in the world. He suggests that this can be achieved through a process of spiritual transformation and evolution that involves the awakening of higher states of consciousness and the development of a new type of human being, the “supramental being.”

The book is divided into two parts. The first part explores the nature of the divine and the universe, while the second part focuses on the spiritual transformation of the individual and the collective evolution of humanity.

Overall, The Life Divine is a profound and comprehensive work that offers a unique perspective on the meaning and purpose of human existence, and has inspired many spiritual seekers and thinkers around the world.

Integral Yoga

Integral Yoga is a spiritual path developed by Sri Aurobindo, an Indian sage and philosopher. It is based on the idea that human beings have the potential to evolve beyond their current limitations and realize their true spiritual nature.

The practice of Integral Yoga involves the integration of all aspects of the individual, including the physical, vital, mental, and spiritual dimensions. This involves the cultivation of self-awareness and the development of higher states of consciousness, leading to a transformative spiritual awakening.

Integral Yoga emphasizes the importance of self-transformation as a means of contributing to the evolution of humanity and the world as a whole. It recognizes that the evolution of consciousness is a collective process, and that individual transformation is necessary for collective transformation.

The practice of Integral Yoga involves various techniques such as meditation, pranayama (breathing exercises), concentration, and self-inquiry. It also involves the cultivation of virtues such as love, compassion, and wisdom, and the integration of spiritual principles into all aspects of life.

Overall, Integral Yoga offers a holistic approach to spiritual practice and personal transformation, and is intended to help individuals realize their full potential and contribute to the evolution of humanity and the world.

Triple Transformation

The Triple Transformation is a central concept in Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy of Integral Yoga, which outlines the stages of the spiritual evolution of an individual.

The Triple Transformation refers to the three main aspects of this process: the psychic transformation, the spiritual transformation, and the supramental transformation.

The first stage of the Triple Transformation is the psychic transformation, which involves the awakening of the psychic being or the innermost essence of the

individual. This transformation involves a process of self-discovery and the cultivation of spiritual qualities such as love, compassion, and devotion.

The second stage of the Triple Transformation is the spiritual transformation, which involves the awakening of the spiritual consciousness and the realization of the divine nature within oneself. This transformation involves a process of spiritual practice and the cultivation of higher states of consciousness such as samadhi.

The third and final stage of the Triple Transformation is the supramental transformation, which involves the awakening of the supramental consciousness or the highest level of consciousness. This transformation leads to the development of a new type of human being, the “supramental being,” who is characterized by a complete and harmonious integration of all aspects of the individual.

Overall, the Triple Transformation represents a path of spiritual evolution that leads to the realization of one’s true nature and the development of a new consciousness that can contribute to the evolution of humanity and the world.

Gnostic Society

Sri Aurobindo’s concept of the Gnostic Society refers to a spiritual community of individuals who have realized the divine consciousness within themselves and are dedicated to the collective evolution of humanity towards a higher state of consciousness.

In Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy, the Gnostic Society represents the ideal of a society in which all individuals are conscious of their spiritual nature and work towards the realization of the divine within themselves and in the world around them. The Gnostic Society is characterized by a deep sense of unity and interconnectedness, and a commitment to the spiritual evolution of humanity as a whole.

The Gnostic Society is not limited to any particular religion or tradition, but is open to individuals from all paths and backgrounds who share a common vision of spiritual evolution and transformation.

According to Sri Aurobindo, the emergence of the Gnostic Society is a natural outcome of the spiritual evolution of humanity, and represents a new stage in the evolution of consciousness on the planet. The Gnostic Society is not just a utopian ideal, but a practical possibility that can be realized through the collective efforts of individuals dedicated to spiritual transformation and the evolution of humanity.

Overall, the concept of the Gnostic Society represents Sri Aurobindo’s vision of a world in which individuals are conscious of their spiritual nature and work towards the realization of the divine within themselves and in the world around them. It represents an ideal of spiritual evolution and transformation that can inspire individuals and communities towards a higher and more harmonious way of life.
