Auroville Consecration

A space to remember why we are here...

Consecration is for those who have already chosen Auroville — and wish to realign their inner aspiration with the collective work of building the City the Earth Needs.

Bonjour Auroville Initiative

What is the Consecration Programme?

The Auroville Consecration Programme (ACP) is a quarterly, full-day reflective and participatory programme for Aurovilians.

It is not an orientation, not a policy meeting, and not a debate forum.

It is a space for renewal — where Aurovilians pause, reflect, and consciously reconnect with the purpose that brought them here.

Consecration acknowledges a simple truth: alignment is not permanent; it must be renewed.

Who Is It For?

Consecration is for:

  • All Aurovilians

  • Long-term residents carrying responsibilities

  • Those engaged in work, governance, education, economy, ecology, culture

  • Aurovilians who feel the need to pause, re-center, and re-commit

Why Consecration Matters

Newcomers have Orientation.
Visitors have Discovery and Bonjour.
But Aurovilians — the willing servitors of the Divine Consciousness — rarely have a shared space to realign.

Over time, routine replaces aspiration.
Work replaces meaning.
Positions replace purpose.

Consecration creates a collective rhythm of remembrance — a space to ask again:

Why am I here?
What am I serving?
How do my actions align with Auroville’s purpose today?

Without such spaces, the experiment risks becoming functional but hollow.

Frequency:
• Quarterly (one full day)

Time:
• 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Venue:
• Rotating Auroville spaces (announced in advance)

Indicative Flow:

  • Morning gathering and collective concentration

  • Invocation and aspiration dialogues

  • Living Word: collective reading of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother

  • Shared meals as part of the practice

  • Experiential sessions: energy, expression, and inner work

  • Breakout reflections across key fields of Auroville life

  • Closing: moving forward consciously, individually and collectively

Consecration does not aim to cover everything.
It holds what is essential.

  • The Charter as a living compass

  • Inner work and outer responsibility

  • The yoga of work in collective life

  • Present challenges — without denial or blame

  • Reflection that can inform action and policy

  • Renewal of the original flame of aspiration
